Bi-Rite to close
A long-standing Gilgandra business will close its doors this month after 20 years.

Bi-Rite/Furniture House proprietor Gerard Freeth said the past month of trading since announcing the closure has been very “humbling”. “People have come into the store and thanked me for providing the business; I didn’t actually realise how many customers, businesses, and people we have serviced over time. It’s been very humbling to see that happen,” he said.
Now in its last days, the store has a very limited stock left to clear, before the big job of cleaning out the Miller Street premises. Some of the fit out has already been allocated to other businesses and groups in town. While Gerard said the furniture side of the business held up, margins and competition in the electrical and white goods market was a factor in the business’ closure.
Gerard said across the two decades of business in Gilgandra, he was proud of the business and thanked the wider community for their loyalty and support. While Gerard is not retiring from the workforce, he said the closure probably won’t really hit home until they lock the doors for the last time.
“I would also like to thank all my staff for the last 20 years in helping me with my business and serving Gilgandra,” he said.
