‘ArmaTREE’ Street Party Lights up the Night
Armatree kicked off this year's Goin’ to Gil festival with a Street Party.
Armatree began this year’s Goin’ to Gil Festival with the Armatree Street Party on Friday, September 25, 2026.
The family-friendly event welcomed crowds in to enjoy live music, kids entertainment, and a range of food and drink options for all to enjoy. The star of the show, however, was arguably the official lighting of the Big ArmaTREE. The tree installation was commissioned in 2022 to represent the uniqueness and strength of the Armatree community. The Big ArmaTREE was officially lit up on Friday, forevermore drenching the installation in brilliant colours.
Former deputy mayor Ashley Walker, who was a part of the progress association and Armatree community for over a decade, delivered a few words to honour the committee, community, and volunteers that helped to make the project happen.
“I want to congratulate the community and the people that were behind this project,” Ash said. “This tree symbolises the Armatree community and demonstrates our strength and commitment.
“There were a lot of people who helped with this project, and it is special to be able to share this moment with you all tonight.”
