Gilgandra Shire Council (GSC) has resolved to spend $3,335,458 towards three road widening projects at its latest council meeting.

At the GSC meeting on Thursday, March 21 it was resolved that council would allocate $3,335,458 towards road widening of the sealed sections of Armatree Road (Castlereagh Highway to Armatree village), Leeches Creek Road, and Milpulling Road. This will be funded from the Regional Emergency Road Repair Fund Two.

The works are planned for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 financial years. Business papers prepared for the March 21 meeting reveal that the planned expenditure should cover three kilometres of widening on Armatree Road, 18.16km for Leeches Creek Road (noting that two kilometres was widened last year) and 6.44km of Milpulling Road.

The funding received is part of a $670 million state government Regional Emergency Road Repair Fund.
