Playing in front of a good crowd at Gulgong on Saturday an impressive Dunedoo Swans outfit went through the 2026 Castlereagh League’s first grade knockout undefeated to claim the KO Shield, registering a narrow two-point win over an equally impressive Coonabarabran team, winning the final 12 points to 10.

At the same venue the Youth League final was played out between Cobar and Gilgandra, with the Roosters being too strong to power away to a 24 to nil victory!

Turning to Sunday and the final round of the Castlereagh Community Cup competition saw the Trangie Magpies run out 26 to 12 winners over the Mendooran Tigers to secure third position on the competition ladder whilst the Gulargambone Galahs took out their top of table clash against the Walgett Dragons 40 points to 22 to wrap up the minor premiership.

The Community Cup semi finals will be played next Sunday with both semis being sudden death for the losers, the games seeing the Galahs at home to the Tigers and the Dragons hosting the Maggies in Walgett.

The first round of the Castlereagh League competition will be played next Saturday with Cobar at home to Warren, Gilgandra and Baradine will clash at Gilgandra with the Noonan-Campbell Cup being up for grabs in the first-grade encounter, Dunedoo and Coonamble play at Dunedoo and the Coonabarabran Unicorns will head back down to Gulgong for the second week in a row to joust with the Bull Terriers whilst Narromine and Coolah will play at Narromine.
