Fours Championships

The final of the Fours Championships was played on Sunday, May 3.

This match was played between Stacey Reynolds, Jill Hankins, Bob Dicks and Wenden Riley who came up against Peter Cook, Bob Rogers, Mal Altmann and Brent McKenzie.

The game got off to a great start for the Brent skipped team when they claimed seven shots on the very first end.

Unfortunately the team still had seven shots coming into the seventh end by which time the Wenden skipped team had slowly but surely pegged back the deficit with the score being eight-all on the eighth end.

On the next end, Wenden’s team won two shots and from there on they were never headed with the final score being 22-16 in their favour.

Special mention goes to the lead and second, Stacey and Jill, who both played terrific bowls in setting the platform on a lot of ends for Bob and Wenden to put the icing on the cake.

Congratulations to Stacey, Jill, Bob and Wenden who are the 2026 Fours Champions. Well done to Peter, Bob, Mal and Brent for also making it into the finals.

Eight bowlers enjoyed a roll-up on Saturday, May 2 with Leroy Gregory proving it was no fluke last week as he again played some great bowls. Leroy teamed up with Bruce Parker who was also in great form on the day. These lads claimed the win against Dave Jones and Shaun Marchant, 16-8.

Shayne Barwick and Maxine Elsom narrowly defeated Michele Barwick and Dylan Marchant, 11-10.

Sunday social bowls winners were Bruce Parker and Norm Lummis who defeated Dave Jones and Baden Fisher, 18-9.

The way Parkey is playing with his bowling arm aid it might be a good idea for a few of us to invest in one. Great bowling Parkey!

Mouse Holland and Tracey Riley had a very close but well deserved win against Dave Stockings and Danial Riley, 12-10.

Happy 101st Birthday Blue

The bowlers and members of the club wish life member Kevin ‘Blue’ Milgate all the very best on what was his 101st birthday on Sunday, May 3. Happy Birthday Bluey!
