The Gilgandra 12A Thunder will take on Dubbo CYMS on Saturday in the Dubbo District grand final after their most dominant performance of the season defeating Wellington.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Thunder posted a massive total of 1 for 242 off their 28 overs. This was an incredible performance with the bat and almost set Wellington an impossible task with our bowling attack only conceding over 100 runs once this season. Mitch Cosier (46no) and Jock Mills (56no) opened the innings and hit the ball to all parts of the oval. Harry Thurlow (41no) made his top score for the season and Tex Mudford (21no) and Oscar Medd (20no) also contributed to the enormous total.

Wellington came out swinging putting on 36 in the first 5 overs before Oscar Medd broke through with a ball that seamed back sharply off the pitch. From there a steady stream of wickets saw Wellington bowled out for 57 in the 14th over. Wicket takers were Mitch, Jock, Oscar, Jagger Hazelton and Georgia Allan, with our other bowlers all doing their bit to keep the runs down.

CYMS are always hard to beat in finals but the Thunder head into the game with plenty of confidence and a positive attitude. We hope to see as many family and friends in Dubbo on Saturday to support this fantastic group of kids go all the way this season.

Gilgandra Thunder 12B really raised the bar against the number one team in the competition in their semi-final on Saturday against CYMS White. Bowling first Alana Spora and Heidi Colwell kept things tight with 1/6 and 1/8 respectively. In a thrilling run chase our last three ‘finishers’ Jackson Towns (17), Mitch Beaton (12) and Braxton Towns (20) did everything to get us over the line, but unfortunately pushing so hard meant a few more wickets fell with the opposition taking home the win by a mere 14 runs. A huge effort by the team which will provide some great experience to go one better next year, well done to all the players, parents who drive and support them every week and coach Luke Harrison.

Gilgandra Thunder 12B put in a huge effort when they played the number one team in the semi-finals on Saturday, unfortunately going home with a loss.
