On April 20, the 2024 Gilgandra Show carried out the main show day to great success.
Attractions included side show alley, rides, horse events, cattle, pavilions, displays, and local markets. The 2024 Young Woman Award winner was announced at noon with congratulations to the 2024 Young Woman, Tahlee-Rose Duffy.
Gilgandra’s local SES unit ran a booth alongside major partner AAMI to promote “home preparedness, resilience, and disaster awareness,” according to Gilgandra SES unit commander Chris Riley. He continued, “[The Gilgandra Show] is a great way to connect with the local community… we want to help people understand their risk and prepare for disaster.”
Abby Clemence from AAMI shared that “[We] are happy to connect with the community alongside the SES.”
Ex-chief steward and life member of the Gilgandra Show Society Stanley Thurlow passed away recently. His memory was commemorated by the poultry pavilion who organised a meaningful display to Mr Thurlow, who had a life-long passion for poultry and in particular show fowls. Stan Thurlow was a dedicated member not just of the Gilgandra Show Society but the Gilgandra community.
