Tilla takes on Sydney
Tilla Chandler represented Gilgandra at the Sydney Royal Easter Show earlier this month, for her age group in hacking.

After being nominated by Mary Markey, outside of
Gilgandra Pony Club, Miss Chandler was then accepted
by zone four, which includes the whole region.
Miss Chandler practised every afternoon leading up
to the event, and with the help of Janelle Waters, she
was ready to compete.
“Janelle Waters’ lessons really helped Tilla get to
that level, because she knew what the judges are after,”
said mum Shalyn Chandler.
There were 25 competitors
in Miss Chandler’s age group, and unfortunately, she
didn’t get called into the circle.
However, Miss
Chandler’s parents have said that she rode amazingly
regardless.
“She rode the best she has ever ridden before,” said
Mrs Chandler.
“The horse was a bit cranky because of the new atmosphere, being from a paddock, and we only go to local shows. So she had a horse that was a little bit cranky and she still went out and rode together the best she ever has.”
Miss Chandler said that the experience was lots of fun, and is ready to try again next year. Both of her parents are extremely proud of her efforts, stating she “rode so well, she did Gilgandra proud”.
