Sarah’s state success
Sarah Chandler represented Gilgandra Little Athletics at the state championships over the weekend of March 19.

Miss Chandler competed in the under 14
girls 400 metre, 800 metre, and 1500 metre races, and a
personal best (PB) was achieved.
“In the 1500 metre, I got my PB down to five minutes
30,” said Miss Chandler.
The state championships were held at Sydney
Olympic Park Athletic Centre, and Miss Chandler says
she felt the pressure.
“It was very nerve wracking, representing Gilgandra, but it was still really fun and enjoyable.”
Miss Chandler spends five nights a week training,
and her father Rowan Chandler, said he is proud of how
dedicated she is.
“She does it on her own accord. We are all so proud
of how she is doing.”
Each training session is a bit different, said Miss
Chandler, depending on the day.
“Sometimes I sprint, sometimes I do three kilometres.
It gets hard, but I know I’ll make it in the end and
it will be worth it.”
Breaking a few school records and getting to the national level of Little Athletics, are Miss Chandlers next goals.
