Rodeo supports local Coonamble girl
Over 1000 riders turned out to Coonamble over the long weekend, for the acclaimed ‘biggest rodeo and campdraft in the southern hemisphere’.
Riders from across Australia competed in a range of
events, including the brand new XXXX Saddle Bronc
But it was the locals that made the event even
One Coonamble family recently received news that
their granddaughter was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic
leukemia. The four-year-old is currently
receiving treatment in Sydney with her parents and little
XXXX donated a fire bucket to the Coonamble
Rodeo and Campdraft Committee to auction off over the
weekend, and whatever was raised, the committee were
going to match it.
Pat Frost and Harry Farlow from Rockvale Station,
Armidale, who were also first timers to the rodeo, took
out the highest bid of $1050.
A total of $2100 will be donated by the committee to
the Ronald McDonald House, where the young girl’s
family will be staying for about 12 months.
“It warms your heart,” said one Coonamble local.
“Locals supporting locals. It’s the least we can do.”
