Pinkies in fine form with huge weekend win
After a two week break the Pink Panthers showed the Panther fans that they haven’t been taking it easy.
They scored a comfortable and much needed win against the girls from Binnaway in round 11 of the Christie and Hood Castlereagh League.
The Pinkies were chasing a win to stay in touch with the leader board and
Chloe McLean opened the scoring when she touched down out wide after seven minutes.
Talitha Chatfield soon got into the
scoring act when she sliced through the Bombshell’s defence to score a
great try to make it 8-0 to the Pinkies and two minutes later, sister,
Shian Chatfield crossed next to the posts to give Tori Canham an easy
conversion to make it 14-0.
The Pinkies were throwing the
ball around as they have been training to do but they couldn’t break the Bombers wall again before the halftime break.
The Bombshell girls must have liked the magic water at halftime, and
they came steaming back into the match with two tries, one which was
converted and trailing 14-10 as Pinkies co-coach, Joe Wood looked
to his bench for some inspiration as his stress
levels began to surge.
Talitha provided that inspiration with another try out wide and Tori Canham converted before those girls
swapped roles with Tori scoring and Talitha converting.
again scored and converted to have the Pinkies in a much more
comfortable place as the clock ticked down. The Bombers weren’t going to give up however and they scored with fourteen minutes left on the clock to make it 30-14 to the Pinkies.
Allira Ashby and Rani Diggs, playing her first game in Pinky colours, scored in the final minutes, with Tori and Shian sharing the kicking duties to give the Pinkies a well-deserved 42-14 win over the brave Binnaway girls.
