Pinkies down the Bombers
League Tag

The Pink Panthers continued on
their winning ways with a solid performance
against the gallant Binnaway
Bombshells in round 14 of the
Christie and Hood Castlereagh League
competition played in front of a
healthy crowd at McGrane Oval on
Saturday.
With the pressure on all teams in
the competition as we move to the
pointy end of the season, another win
was vital for the Pinkies and they
showed their intentions early when
Emily Fardell crossed out wide in the
opening minutes. Binnaway replied
soon after with a try to Jesse Newton
to even up the score at 4-4.
The first 20-minutes was a struggle
for both teams but with five minutes
remaining, Rani Diggs scored
off a planned move.
Shian Chatfield converted from
wide out to make it 10-4 and with only
one minute remaining on the clock,
Mab Fuller broke the hearts of the
Bombers when she intercepted a
wayward pass and race 90-metres to
score under the posts for the Pinkies.
Chatfield gave the Pinkies a 16-4
lead with her conversion and the
Pinkies went to oranges in control.
They continued on from their great
first half display in the second stanza
and the tries came at regular intervals
with captain-coach, Kylie Louie
crossing for a great individual try in
the opening minutes, followed by
Shian and Mab Fuller crossing for
her second try.
Kiara Brown finished off a great backline movement to score in the corner and when the final hooter sounded the Pinkies were in front 36-4.
It was a great team effort from the Pinkies and along with the first grade team, they have a bye this Saturday and the following week the face off with the high-flying Narromine Jets in what will be huge tests for both sides.
