Perfect pooches perform in Gilgandra
Gilgandra Showground was plentiful of pooches over the weekend, as Dubbo District Kennel Club held their annual three-day show.

Eumungerie local, Dubbo
District Kennel Club committee
member, and Degel Labradors
and Golden Retrievers owner
Amanda Smith, walked away
with several wins from the show.
She said she keeps coming back
simply because of her love for
dogs.
“I just love my dogs, I love
doing something with them,” she
explained.
Club secretary Mandy
Passmore, said the club are a big
fan of Gilgandra’s grounds, so
decided to hold the show here.
“It’s a very popular ground,
and has plenty of room for
camping. It’s just ideal,” she
said.
“Gilgandra Showground is
by far my favourite ground, it’s
just perfect,” said Mrs Smith.
Lots of exhibitors come out to
show their dogs, and work their
way towards the Australian
championships.
“Competing at this event,
they all gain points toward their
championship. To be an
Australian champion you need
100 points. From there you can
go to grand champion and
supreme champion etc,”
explained Mrs Passmore.
“I think a lot of the exhibitors
like coming out to be aroundlike-
minded people, and to just
spend time with their dogs.”
Firstly dogs compete against
their own breed. From there if
they are successful, then they go
up against other dogs in their
groups. It then goes onto best in
show.
“All dogs have to be pure
bred, and registered under Dogs
Australia.”
The three-day event was held over July 29-31.
