Local athletes compete at Parkes carnival

Gilgandra’s athletes once again put on a great performance
at November’s zone carnival in Parkes. It was a very
successful weekend for all athletes that competed at the
November 6 and 7 event. Nine of our eligible athletes will
now progress through to the regional carnival to be held at
Barden Park, Dubbo in February 2023.
Gilgandra athletes placed as follows:
Thomas Colwell received three gold medals and a
bronze medal: first in 50 metres, shotput, and discus, and
third in long jump.
Billie Lummis-Farr also received a bronze medal for her
third placed performance in discus.
The following athletes have all made the regional carnival
for the following events:
Sarah Chandler: second 800m.
Heidi Colwell: sixth 200m; fifth discus and long jump.
Katie Colwell: second 100m, 70m, and long jump; first
discus.
Charlie Cruickshank: fifth 70m.
Alyssa Ferguson: fourth 100m, long jump, and 80m hurdles;
second high jump; sixth 200m; and first triple jump.
Brock Lummis-Farr: fifth javelin.
Isabelle Peart: fifth shotput, and 200m; third 800m; and
second discus.
Sophia Peart: third high jump; fourth 800m, 200m; triple
jump, and 1500m; fifth long jump.
Joe Staggs: fourth 400m; sixth 100m; and third high
jump.
It was a fantastic weekend and all Gilgandra athletes represented our club fantastically. Congratulations to all athletes and we look forward to the next carnival.
