Gale goes pro for Seagulls
Local boy Luke Gale recently debuted for the Wynnum Manly Seagulls, a Queensland rugby league team.

Kick-starting his professional rugby league career
at the ripe age of 22, Mr Gale attributes part of his success
to his time in Gilgandra Panthers.
“Gil helped me into footy from the start,” he said.
“I
started playing when I was five, and obviously playing
in a country town with not so many people, I played a
fair few positions.
“That ultimately helped my game, because I got to
play a bunch of different positions. It meant that I learnt
a lot about them and could use that to my advantage.”
Now playing lock for Wynnum, Mr Gale is excited
for this next step.
“I’m keen to keep playing, keep getting game time,
and hope to have a good season.”
Mr Gale played for Gilgandra Panthers until he was
16, before moving on to Macquarie Raiders in Dubbo
for a few years.
“At the end of last year, I was looking around for some clubs, and ended up looking in the Queensland Cup.
“The Wynnum Manly Seagulls popped up and I did
some research, watched them for a bit.
“From there I realised they were definitely a club I
wanted to come to and be a part of,” said Mr Gale.
“I was lucky enough to be selected.”
From here, Mr Gale’s dream is to get a full-time contract with a NRL club and will continue working towards this goal.
