Fun week of golf at veterans’ event

It was another fun week at Gilgandra
Golf Club, with games including
a nine-hole Stroke event on Thursday
afternoon with nine veterans competing.
Winner (on a countback) was Mark
Barwick with a score of 33 nett with
Gladys Harvey coming-in second on
the same score as Mark and Geoff
Lummis taking third place with a 35½
nett score.
Geoff won the nearest to the pin
prize with Graeme Holland comingout
tops on the average ball and Mark
also winning the least number of
putts for his round with only 11.
On Saturday, we played an 18-
hole 4BBB Stableford Multiplier with
teams of two competing.
The winning
pair were Bob Dwyer and Ken Williams
with 73 points for their round.
Coming in second, were John
McWhirter and Bill Welsh with 72 points,
with the Gilgandra Toyota nearest
to the pin winner being Bill Welsh.
On Sunday, we also played an 18-
hole Stableford with a total of 10 golfers
competing.
The winner was Rob
Hay with 42 points, nine points ahead
of the nearest other player, being Bob
Dwyer in second place with 33 points.
The Gilgandra Toyota nearest-thepin prize went to John McWhirter with a putt that came within 3.8 metres of the hole.
