CBD to be reduced to 40km/h
Gilgandra’s CBD will be reduced to a 40km/h zone, down from the original 50km/h in coming weeks.

You
may notice the signs already in place, however with a
cover over them, as council await the thumbs up from
Transport for NSW (TfNSW).
In the June ordinary council meeting, the matter was
outstanding from a previous meeting regarding Gilgandra
CBD becoming a 40km/h zone.
Mayor Doug
Batten asked about the implementation of the reduced
zone in Gilgandra, to which TfNSW representative
Richard Drooger advised there were some system issues
within TfNSW, and the zone’s ‘go live’ date was yet to
be established.
At the meeting, director of infrastructure
Daryl Colwell commented that all signs and ancillary
items have been delivered, and the signs were rostered
to be in place before the end of the financial year.
The signs were put up on Monday, July 11 - there has been no clear indication of when the new speed zone will become effective.
