Armatree sold

After 15 years running Armatree Hotel, Ash and Lib Walker are finally handing over the reins.

The news was dropped on the community at the recent Armatree Community Christmas event.

“Thanks to our kids who have held a really big secret the last two weeks, because we’ve actually sold the pub,” said Mrs Walker, through a few tears.

“Thank you for all of your support, we’ve had an amazing nearly 15 years, we’ll miss you all but we’re staying. We’re in the district.”

The publicans have sold the pub to experienced owners from Sydney.

“We’ve taken the opportunity to sell,” said Mr Walker.

“We’re really looking forward to spending more time with family, and more time on the farm. We are incredibly thankful to the Armatree and Gilgandra community for their support.”

After no awards were issued for 2020 and 2021, Armatree Hotel still holds the title of ‘Best Bush Pub’, carried over from their 2019 win.

They were also the winners of the title in 2018.

“We’ve built and increased business enough to hopefully put Armatree and surrounds on the map,” said Mr Walker.

The pub has recently been nominated as finalists in the national hotel awards, representing NSW in the regional hotel of the year category.

Winners are to be announced at the awards night in February next year. The Walker’s last day will be in mid-January 2022.
