Volunteers Week: Spotlight on Brady Meyers
Brady Meyers has been volunteering at the Gilgandra Shire Library for many years.

He first came to the library for
school work-experience in year 10, and
returned the following year as a volunteer.
Brady has clocked up over ten years
of volunteer service to the Gilgandra
community through the library.
He returned to volunteering this year
after a break due to the pandemic, and
library staff and customers were very
glad to welcome him back.
Brady takes on a variety of tasks,
including re-shelving returned books,
audiobooks and toys, and preparing kits
of activities for Storytime.
When asked
what he likes about volunteering at the
library, Brady said:
“It helps me to be
able to connect with people face-to-face,
and helps to keep me busy during the
working week.”
Brady says he particularly likes
shelving books, as he enjoys making sure
they are in the correct order, so they can
be easily found for the next borrower.
Library customers and staff are very
grateful for Brady’s work.
Brady was asked what he would say
to anyone else thinking of volunteering.
“Just give it a go! Let the results speak for themselves.”
Brady is also looking forward to the move into the new GIL Library Hub later this year.
“It will be good to see a lot more space for people to enjoy.”
