Retail Manager of the Year for local pharmacy
You don’t often see what happens behind the dispensary at a pharmacy, but Gina Schembri of Gilgandra Pharmacy has made sure that it all runs smoothly.

Taking out Retail Manager of the Year at the Pharmacy
Catalyst Awards for 2021, Mrs Schembri has made her
team proud.
Pharmacist Emma Robinson was thrilled to hear of
Ms Schembri’s achievement, especially since she has
only been in the role for a short time. With two pharmacists
on maternity leave, locum pharmacists, and the
holiday period, Mrs Schembri has continued to keep the
store under control.
“She’s been doing a wonderful job, managing the
buying of things, and a support role to the pharmacist
which is so important at the moment,” said Mrs
Robinson.
“The Pharmacy Catalyst is a group of likeminded
country pharmacies who work in a bit of a buying group
to support each other. There are 92 stores around the
state, including big stores at places like Dubbo, and
their retail managers have been operating for quite some
time.”
Although Mrs Schembri wasn’t able to attend the
conference due to being greatly needed on the floor in
Gilgandra, she was still so humbled by the news.
“I was so surprised,” said Mrs Schembri.
“The recognition is lovely; they obviously see things that you don’t realise. It was really nice.”
