Pyjama Day around town
Pyjama Day, or for some, pyjama week, was celebrated across the shire on July 22.

From the young to old – people wore
pyjamas for the whole day in order to
raise money for The Pyjama Foundation.
This foundation raises both awareness
and funds for children in foster care,
something close to Aussie Kindies
hearts.
“All children are important to us, and
unfortunately not all kids get an equal
opportunity,” said assistant centre manager
at Aussie Kindies, Lucy Scotty.
“We have been doing pyjama day
here since I can remember, and the kids
absolutely love it.”
For Aussie Kindies, their affiliation
group ‘Affinity Education’, set a goal of
raising $10,000 across the board on pyjama
day this year.
Going above and
beyond, the group have reached their
goal, doubled it, and added a bit more to
raise over $24,000.
“It’s such an incredible effort from all
the schools under their hat, including
Aussie Kindies.
“We held a pyjama week, which consisted
of pj wearing, movies, and we
learnt in age appropriate wasys, why we
raise money for The Pyjama Foundation,”
said Ms Scotty.
Cooee Lodge also hosted a pyjama
day, raising over $100 just inhouse.
“Residents had an absolute ball,” said
acting Cooee Lodge Hostel manager,
Jess Dixon.
“Some had matching bows in their
hair, the staff dressed up as well, it was
just a lovely day.”
An afternoon tea was held at the
lodge, followed by a movie afternoon
with the residents.
