Power up at the CHC - electric chargers ahead!
Electric powered travel is on the horizon for Gilgandra.

The Coo-ee Heritage Centre (CHC) will
become the home of electric vehicle chargers in the near
future.
The NRMA is currently working with Essential
Energy to get power to the site for the installation of the
chargers.
Gilgandra Shire Council has advised The Gilgandra
Weekly that there are some precautions being put in
place to cause minimal, if any, disruption to the bore
pump that is located at the site, and a plan has been put
to Essential Energy to work through the best solution.
This comes off the back of the completed bitumen works
on the south-western side of the car park. Out of the
surrounding towns: Dubbo, Narromine, Coonamble,
Coonabarabran, Trangie, Nyngan; only Gilgandra and
Warren are without electric vehicle chargers.
By becoming part of the charging network, those
tourists with electric vehicles won’t need to bypass or
pass through Gilgandra to recharge.
The placement of the chargers may also encourage those stopping to “fuel up” their vehicle, to explore the heritage centre while they wait. The implementation still requires council approval, and it is anticipated that this would be in the latter half of 2023.
