Oral History Project handover
After months of preparation, recording, interviewing, and compiling, Gilgandra’s oral history project has officially been handed over to the Gilgandra Shire Library.
The library will now catalogue these interviews and transcripts, so future people can look back at the history and personalities that make up Gilgandra, and inevitably shape Australia’s history.
The oral history project has been created to document the lives and stories of individuals from the Gilgandra community.
On Friday, July 30, the oral history project presented the first 11 transcripts and recordings to the library.
Hosted at the CWA hall, majority of the interviewees were in attendance, and were pleased to be recognised for their contribution and hard work.
It is hoped the recording of local oral histories will continue for years to come.
