Night Under the Gums is back
Gilgandra is set to light up today when we welcome back locals and visitors alike to enjoy a ‘Night Under The Gums’.

A Night Under The Gums invites attendees to graze
the delights of local and regional food suppliers, enjoy a
beverage and experience the Castlereagh River in a new
light - with live music, performances and lighting displays
set to make the space shine.
Mayor, Doug Batten says he is excited for Gilgandra to play host to such an event.
“After the success of last years A Night Under The
Gums we are excited to host this event for its second
year and encourage people from near and far to join us
for an entertaining night out to enjoy some live music,
good food and a laugh with others.
“The opportunity to do this as a community for
another year is definitely something we have been looking
forward to.
“We’re welcoming travellers and visitors to come
and enjoy our region. Make the most of the opportunity
to combine a night out with a chance to explore what
our region has on offer – wander down Miller Street,
visit one of our country pubs or take a trip to the
Warrumbungles.”
Council’s marketing and communications manager
Kathryn Larkin says, “this year we have a great lineup
of new and returning musicians”.
This includes:
• Hayley Jensen award-winning country artist. Ms
Jensen’s album, ‘Breakin’ Hearts’, topped the charts to
be the number one ARIA country album, number one
Australian country album, number four Australian
album all genres and number 25 album overall. It was
also the number one iTunes country album,
• Sarah Leete, who will be returning to stage singing
her brand new Album ‘Used’ which was number 39 in
the CountryTown Hot 50,
• Singer, songwriter and guitarist Stewart Barton,
and dynamic band Brewn,
• Gilgandra’s own Jane Le and her ukulele,
• Funk-pop band, Phat Brass, and
• Raptor Country, kicking off the event with their
Birds of Prey and Blue music.
If you don’t already know their music, head over to
their social media pages or keep the surprise and join us
to experience the magic live!
MC on the night will be
delivered by the humorous duo Mud and Dust, laughing
up a storm with their live comedy tip bits.
We also have a great listing of food vendors to keep
the crowds happy and full, including pizzas and burgers,
twisted chips, lamb and gravy rolls, Indian, cakes and
cookies and ice cream!
There will also be a fully
licensed bar as well as regional distillery, brewery and
coffee for refreshments.
A range of stall holders will also be selling goods on
the evening including pots, plants and succulents, fashion
and homewares!
“We are very excited to have these performers and
suppliers on board, and invite the community to enjoy
the natural beauty of the Castlereagh River under lights
and some tasty treats from our broader region. Keep an
eye out on our socials to stay up to date with all the latest
information,” said Mrs Larkin.
The event is being held with support from NSW
government funding opportunity, as part of the
statewide Summer Fund – ‘festival of place’ initiative,
which seeks to support community wellbeing and economic
recovery in our local centres.
The Men’s Shed Gilgandra will be in attendance taking
donations to offer cash support to flood affected residents
of NSW.
The collection of donations is organised and managed by The Men’s Shed Gilgandra with support from Bendigo Bank, Community Bank Gilgandra.
