The new Gulargambone Preschool has been awarded a $87,525 grant for security enhancements. Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton visited the new preschool’s construction site last week to announce the funding. “I’m thrilled Gulargambone Preschool is one of the recipients receiving money for important safety improvements for the benefit of the wonderful children and staff here,” said Mr Coulton.

“The Australian government is awarding up to $35 million to successful grant applicants under the latest round of the Safer Communities Fund infrastructure streams. This grant will enable the installation of CCTV cameras with remote access, security lighting, security alarms and fencing at the preschool, giving everyone in the area greater peace of mind. It’s a hive of activity at the preschool at the moment with plenty of capital works underway, so I’m glad these funds will further benefit the pre-school and wider community.” Director of Gulargambone Preschool Amii Marchant said the funds will make an enormous difference.

“We are so appreciative to have received this grant funding,” said Ms Marchant. “It means we can ensure a safe environment for children, families and community members who access the new preschool both during and after school hours. It also means staff can safely enter and exit the building each morning and evening.

“We will also be providing security infrastructure for the bus shed. This building will house the Gulargambone community bus that we use to transport our town children each day.

“It’s so exciting to see our projects progressing at the preschool - we are very excited to be using the new building soon.”

The Safer Communities Fund provides funding to address crime and anti-social behaviour through the implementation of crime prevention and security initiatives, such as CCTV and lighting.
