New principal’s warm welcome to St Joey’s
St Joseph’s, Gilgandra, have already given their new principal Geoffrey Gibbons, a very warm welcome.

Taking-up his first principal position this term, Mr
Gibbons is excited for the years’ ahead.
“I think the people make the school, and I think St
Joseph’s and it’s community are great, so the transition
has been very positive,” he said.
Previously, Mr Gibbons was assistant principal and
teacher at St Augustine’s in Narromine for eight years.
Prior to that, he worked at St Joseph’s Nyngan as
assistant principal and religious education coordinator,
and at St Mary’s in Dubbo and St Philomena’s in Moree,
as a classroom teacher.
Looking forward to getting to
know everyone a bit better, Mr Gibbons thoroughly
enjoyed the recent swimming carnival.
“You can
already see in lots of the things we do, the motto of ‘give
it your best’, really is evident.
“Like the swimming carnival, it just had a childfocused,
positive, good feel for everyone. Whatever we
do, we just need to make sure we keep that up,” he said.
“St Joseph’s is a really well-run school. It has a really
good positive culture of parents and students, and I
really want to chime in and make sure that continues.
“I want to continue working with teachers and staff
to make sure we are getting the best for our students.”
Mr Gibson’s wife currently works as an emergency nurse at Dubbo base, and you can usually find him playing touch footy for Dubbo on Wednesdays, if he’s not working on his “very” amateur knife-making career.
