Mitchell and Saunders visit Gilgandra
Shadow minister for education, early learning and Western NSW Sarah Mitchell, and leader of the NSW Nationals and shadow minister for regional NSW Dugald Saunders paid a visit to Gilgandra last week – and they really were given the grand tour.

The MPs were on the road around the
region visiting Narromine, and then on to
Gilgandra, where they checked out The
Meating Place, Gilgandra Preschool,
Gilgandra Shire Council and even The
Gilgandra Weekly.
Ms Mitchell had not visited Gilgandra Preschool since its revamp, despite helping fund the project’s con- struction, and she was incredibly impressed.
“It was fantastic to be back at Gilgandra Preschool to see the children learning in their fabulous preschool, which was expanded thanks to funding from the previous Liberals and Nationals government,” she said.
“A big shout out to Kristy and her team for the amazing work they do each day. It is always wonderful to see dedicated educators supporting our littlest learners.”
The MPs also had the opportunity to meet with mayor Doug Batten, deputy mayor Ash Walker, general manager David Neeves, and other councillors, to discuss local issues including biosecurity and access to childcare.
“It was great to visit Gilgandra with Sarah and see once again what a vibrant community it has become,” said Mr Saunders.
“The council has been proactive in its approach to growing the town and it's a great example of why our focus on investment in the regions was so important.”
