Mia buzzes through spelling bee
Making her family and town beyond proud, Mia Mudford of Gilgandra’s St Joseph’s School has walked away as a runner-up at the annual diocese of Bathurst spelling bee.
Mia represented her school in the stage three section,
where she came second to Christian Weber from
Cathedral Catholic Primary School Bathurst.
Wellington late last month, more than 120 students
showcased their spectacular spelling skills.
The crowd was on the edge of their seats when students
underwent the major challenge of spelling unseen
“It was truly a sight to behold as these young wordsmiths
rose to the occasion, tackling the complexity of
the words with remarkable grace and composure. Their
support for one another was a testament to the spirit of
camaraderie that permeated the event,” said a spoke person
for the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst.
“The 11th Diocese of Bathurst Spelling Bee showcased the incredible talent and commitment of our students.
We are immensely proud of each participant for their
hard work and dedication, and we congratulate them on
their outstanding achievements. The Spelling Bee
serves as a platform to inspire a love for language and
encourages students to strive for excellence in their literacy
Mia was one of four representing Gilgandra at the spelling bee, including Mitchell Beaton, Jakirah McKenzie, and Lottie Duffy.
