Men’s Shed New Solar Panels
Gilgandra Men’s Shed have installed new solar panels after receiving a $7000 grant in July from the federal government as part of the National Shed Development Programme.
Gilgandra Men’s Shed president Doug Lummis said that the new panels will help a great deal with their electricity bill. “Electricity is the Gilgandra Men’s Shed’s biggest expense,” Mr Lummis said.
“The expected savings in power costs will allow the men’s shed to spend more on tools, amenities and community projects. Local trades people were employed for the installation of the panels.” During the announcement of the funding member for Parkes, Mark Coulton said that men’s sheds serve a vital role in the community.
“I’ve long been a proud supporter of the Men’s Shed movement because these sheds play a vital role supporting the health and wellbeing of men in my electorate.
“Now more than ever, men’s sheds offer men a critical avenue for social support and engagement,” Mr Coulton said.
