Lions changeover dinner
A very enjoyable evening was held on July 2, to celebrate the Gilgandra Lions Club’s 44th annual changeover dinner.

President Mike Newstead welcomed
Lions members from Tooraweenah and Gulargambone,
and official guests.
Lester Thurston OAM, Lions member from Tooraweenah,
amicably conducted the Lions changeover, or
introduction of the 2022/23 board as follows: president
Mike Newstead, secretary Peter Hall, treasurer Paul
Mann, and service director Ron Quealy.
Mr Thurston spoke of the importance for the three
Lions clubs Gilgandra, Tooraweenah, and Gulargambone
to work together to insure the future of all clubs.
President Mike Newstead presented Gil Riley with
his 10-year membership badge and certificate, and Ross
Nangle with his well-deserved 40-years badge and certificate.
Lions members and guests enjoyed a delicious
meal prepared by Cath Waller, the Lions chef for over
30 years.
The evening’s guest speaker was Ian McCutcheon.
Accompanied by his wife Dianne, he spoke on the long
and very interesting history of the property "Berida".
Many visitors and youth camps have enjoyed a visit
to the property and enjoyed a glimpse of the famous
woolshed. Children are able to feel the unprocessed wool there
and it is a great experience for them.
Mr McCutcheon gave a very inspirational and informative presentation. A wonderful night was enjoyed by all who attend the evening.
