Kazza's Cuppa

‘Kazza’s Cuppa’ was held as part of the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Gilgandra Post Office’s event was run by Karen Border, on the front lawn of the post office, last Friday, May 21. Before anyone had even turned up to the event, over 220 deliveries went out to individuals and businesses who wanted to participate but couldn’t get the time off work.

Mrs Border was overwhelmed by the total $6273 raised, with $1833 through the raffle, $2355 through the morning tea and $2085 that was donated on the day. All proceeds went towards the Cancer Council to raise funds for research and the people impacted by cancer.

Mrs Border was ecstatic with the generosity of the community in the lead up to the event, and on the day. When walking down Miller Street, Mrs Border popped into stores in hopes of any small donation for the raffle prizes. So, when everybody said yes and enthusiastically handed over donations, Mrs Border ended up having enough items for raffle and lucky door prizes.

With hundreds in attendance throughout the day, with over 50 people on the front lawn at any one time, everyone was in agreeance that the day was a huge success. Locals hope to see more morning teas out on the front lawn of the post office, as it is the perfect spot to enjoy a nice cuppa in the sun.
