Hitchen House clearing sale
The estate of the late Brian Bywater OAM, Hitchen House, and Gilgandra Museum are having a two-day unreserved auction this weekend.

Collectables,
old militaria, antique and military
firearms, swords and bayonets, uniforms,
and many other items from the Hitcheon
House will be available both online and
onsite.
A clearing sale of excess and duplicate
items from the Gilgandra Museum
will also be held this Sunday. President
of the Gilgandra Historical Society, Max
Zell, says the voluntary organisation in
the past has pushed items into the shed
that weren’t being used.
“We have sorted through a lot of it
now and we are selling some really interesting
items,” said Mr Zell.
“The money
will create some income for the museum,
because with covid our income has drastically
reduced.”
Mr Zell said that even though coaches
and travellers are finally coming back
through, the society is still tight. The
clearing sale will include a number of
interesting antiques, small and large.
Some of the more unique items include
the charcoal crusher, used to create a gas
that powered machinery, and a conrod
straightener.
Other items include old tools, timber, a rope winer, a piano, pianola, old telephones, milk trailers, and other antiques that might even be nice as a piece of décor.
