Gilgandra Shire Library News - June 20, 2023


DFYM LEGO® Club

Mini-figures were zipping through the Gilgandra Shire Library at Designs From Your Mind (DFYM) LEGO® Club last week.

Our builders were given the chal- lenge of moving their mini-figure down a zip-line safely, from a height. Our builders put their problem solving skills to the test, coming up with unique methods of travelling safely.

DFYM is a fun program held once a week after school, and is suitable for children aged five-years and over. The number of participants per ses- sion is limited, so bookings are essential.

Tech Club

Scratch Jr programming cards are a great way for kids to explore lessons in coding. They have simple instructions, directing the coder to different commands, backgrounds and characters to use to create an animation.

Our coders at Gilgandra Shire Library’s Tech Club already have some experience with Scratch Jr, so they used these new programming cards to help further their knowledge and to code some great new anima- tions and stories.

Tech Club is a fun, free program that runs once a week after school, and is suitable for children aged eight-12 years.

Baby Rhymetime

Did you know that reading aloud to babies helps with brain develop- ment and bonding? And that repeti- tion of rhymes and singing supports language and literacy development?

At Baby Rhymetime we sing, rhyme and read, and there is plenty of laughter and fun along the way. Baby Rhymetime is for babies and
