Gilgandra Region website launch
Local businesses and residents turned out for the official Gilgandra Region website launch on Thursday, May 27.
The website features visitor information, including links to local places to shop, eat and enjoy. Gilgandra businesses say this is a step in the right direction for bringing people in to shop locally.
“It’s a great asset for the community to have council develop this website which I think will enable visitors to the region to very quickly get an idea of the services and attractions in the town,” said Central Stores owner, Liz McAllister.
MH Thomas and Gilgandra Real Estate agent Alison Thomas said “I just hope it will entice people to come and view our region, hopefully stay and realise it’s a lovely place to live. Then let other people know too.” Council has been developing the idea for an official region website for a while. Research into other councils and regions has meant that Gilgandra’s site has been developed to have a similar aesthetic and visual representation as Visit Mudgee’s site.
Future plans for the site include creating day packages for visitors to be able to bundle together and prepurchase tours/ experiences for when they visit Gilgandra.
This way, visitors will have the opportunity to visit all of what Gilgandra has to offer, and lock it in before they arrive. This idea is still a work in progress by council.
