George goes everywhere. He eats dinner with the residents, sitting on his own chair at the dining table. He’s the supervisor of the new garden being put in. He keeps residents company on their trips for shopping or appointments in Dubbo. He waits very patiently at the barbecue area for his Saturday barbeque.

George’s antics give the residents something to look forward to each day. “Everyone around the hostel looks for George in the morning, because he gets moved every

day,” said acting supervisor of Jack Towney, Halina Krysztoforfki. “It’s surprising how much joy something so little brings. It’s that interaction, where’s George today? Something to lift people’s spirits in this depress- ing time.”

All the staff at Jack Towney have put their creative thinking to the test with George’s adventures and have each contributed to what he’s been up to.

While February is the month of George, March will be the month of ‘where’s Wally the wombat’.

Children are advised to keep their eyes peeled on their parents Facebook page to try and find Wally hiding around Jack Towney.
