Flower show cancelled
The annual Presbyterian flower show has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to the COVID-19 situation.
“This bountiful spring season would have been an ideal time for a flower show,” said Deirdre Duncan.
After 100 consecutive years of the Gilgandra flower show, locals are disappointed in the second cancellation.
“The gardens around town are a blaze of colour, showing prize blooms, which would have set the scene for a magnificent display. But hopefully, COVID-19 permitting, the planned 'show of flowers’ in October, will still go ahead.
The ‘show of flowers’ is a separate event to the original Gilgandra
flower show. The smaller event in October will boost beautiful arrangements in
the Gilgandra Presbyterian Church grounds, courtesy of anyone who is willing to bring in their
flowers. There will be no judging, only a display, with plant, cake, and book stalls to fill the day with.
“We hope and pray this happy event can be held, to brighten our lives for a few days, after so many weeks of being ‘shut-in’,” said Mrs Duncan.
More information on the planned ‘show of flowers’ will be made available in the coming weeks.
