Familiar face as new manager at Community Care
Emma Meyers has been appointed as manager at Community Care Gilgandra.
Over 10 years ago, Ms Meyers started as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and when the job came up for an assistant in community care, it was a natural progression.
Ms Meyers has worked under numerous directors and managers before assuming her new role.
Ms Meyers overlooks Community Care’s services, and ensure all things run smoothly and efficiently.
When asked what her goals for this position are, Ms Meyer’s didn’t hesitate.
“I would love to expand the services and find more volunteers.”
Ms Meyer’s made it clear that the volunteers are the backbone for community care. There are currently 41 volunteers working for Community Care’s three services: Meals on Wheels, transport support and social support.
Out of those 41, just five volunteers provide transport support services. They were responsible for completing 2748 trips in the last financial year.
"We are in desperate need of more volunteers,” stressed Ms Meyers.
Community Care Gilgandra is an essential service and has continued to operate throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
