Eternal flame to burn bright once again
An eternal flame will finally light up again at the Coo-ee Memorial Park archway near the Coo-ee Heritage Centre (CHC), after several months without one.

A grant to redo the archway was received by the
Gilgandra RSL sub-branch last year, after the old wooden
one became quite dilapidated.
The new archway was
put up by Gilmour Engineering, but the eternal flame
that used to sit above went missing in the changeover.
“We have been looking at different ways we could
have a light up there, and with the support of the council
and the community, we finally have one up,” said
president of the local RSL sub-branch, Anne Hall.
Local artist Joe Shaloub made a light with techniques
used in his glasswork, and a small solar system
keeps the flame alight.
Mrs Hall and the entire sub-branch is grateful to the
Gilgandra Shire Council and the Gilgandra community
for the support of the memorial archway. The important
piece of Gilgandra’s history being honored will now be
complete.
Mrs Hall also wanted to thank all community members who supported the ANZAC Day badge sales, stating the support of the sub-branch from the community is beyond amazing.
