Driver hospitalised after driving truck into house

A garbage truck collided with a home on the Newell Highway late last month, with the driver being hospitalised as a result. The occupants of the home were uninjured.

Early Friday morning, February 26, around 7:45am emergency services were called to a single vehicle accident in which a garbage truck crashed into a home on the Newell Highway about two kilometres north of the Gilgandra township.

The 69-year-old driver of the vehicle was trapped inside the truck for a period of time. The man was released by emergency services at the scene and was transported to Dubbo Base Hospital for non-serious injuries. Two adult residents of the home were uninjured as they had been asleep in the back end of the home. Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
