Cooee Lodge’s first COVID exposure
Late last week, Gilgandra Lifestyles advised family members and the public, that Cooee Lodge had experienced its first cases of COVID-19.

The council-run aged
care facility said that residents are being well cared for
by the clinical team and on call medical services.
Gilgandra Lifestyles further advised that they are
working with the Commonwealth government for
advice and support.
A support workforce has commenced,
providing the lodge with assistance to manage
the health and care of clients and staff.
This team is provided
by the Commonwealth and has been developed
specifically for this style of support.
Visitor restrictions remain in place, however council
has advised compassionate visits may be requested.
Residents remain isolated in an attempt to curb
transmissions, along with infection control practices in
place.
Additional resident activities that can be achieved
while isolated have been implemented.
Gilgandra Shire Council’s director of aged care
director Donna Dobson said, “We are thankful to our
staff, who are to be complemented as we work through
this period. Their dedication to infection control
throughout the pandemic has ensured that exposure at
our facilities has been limited.”
“We are providing families with regular communications regarding updates on patients, residents and processes in place, and are ensuring that residents stay in good spirits. We thank families for their ongoing support and understanding. Gilgandra Lifestyles continues to work with the public health unit and the department of health to ensure the best possible outcomes for residents and staff.”
