Avondale Tennis Club teapot

In past decades, when travel was much slower than it is today, many properties and localities had their own sporting clubs, with tennis and cricket being the most popular games played. Competitions between the various clubs were held on weekends at different locations. These were generally big social occasions in addition to being sporting events, with lunch and afternoon also being a feature of the day. The society is fortunate to have in it’s collection the Avondale Tennis Club teapot which would have been used on many occasions.
