Activity group funds PPE
The Gilgandra Hospital Activity Group have been madly knitting away, selling enough articles to purchase the hospital two PPE stations, worth around $1000 each.
This follows after the purchase of two special chairs earlier this year for the hospital, valued at $3500.
“We planned to purchase a PPE station for the nurses, but thanks to a donation from Marj Beaton’s friend Terry O’Hare, we were able to purchase two PPE stations for $2000,” said Yvonne Logan.
For over 35 years, a group of loyal local ladies have met at the hospital social activities room every Friday morning. Here, the women get together to share stories, ideas, talents, and love of knitting.
“The ladies enjoy their times together, and their greatest pleasure has been using their talents making beautiful articles for sale at the hospital and down the road,” said Ms Logan.
Despite lockdowns, the activity group continued to knit at home. They made lap blankets, beanies, booties, and all sorts of other colourful knitwear.
The Hospital Activity Group has now raised a total of $62,500 in purchases since starting in 1985.
