Cooinda Border Leicesters has had a ‘stud record’ sale at their fourth annual auction last week. Two rams were sold for $6200, more than double their previous record price, with the average price at $4308.
“Both of those high priced rams went to other border leicester studs,” said stud co-owner, Cherie Pagan.
The auction was able to take place under an exemption made for livestock sales.
A total of three rams were sold to other studs, which Cooinda were more than pleased with.
“It was unexpected but very good.”
Lot six was sold to Campbell Roweth for $6200. Mr Roweth has a border leicester stud and originally saw the ram at the Dubbo show this year.
“He kept in touch and inquired about him. He’s a really good ram, so I was glad to see him go to another stud,” said Mrs Pagan.
All 61 rams were sold on the day, making the auction “unbelievably successful.”
